Casey Reas (b. 1972, United States) is an alumnus of the MIT Media Lab and chair of the Department of Design | Media Arts at University of California, Los Angeles. Reas explores the relationship between synthetic and naturally evolved systems and seeks to define these processes by translating them into images. He co-founded Processing.org, an environment for exploring software within the context of the arts, and began using proprietary software to develop a series of work that visually documents the behavior of synthetic neural systems. Reas lives and works in Los Angeles.
