Maira Kalman (b. 1949, Israel) is an author, illustrator, and designer born in Tel Aviv and raised in New York. With curiosity, compassion, and humor, Kalman's work chronicles the absurdities of modern life that she observes as an avid traveler, reader, collector, and pedestrian. She has published several children's books and is also known for her iconic New Yorker magazine covers and illustrated New York Times blog. Kalman lives and works in New York City.
