With New Forms, New Media, Crowner amalgamates a series of compositions created over a period of three years. Digital in origin and execution, New Forms, New Media references the development of Crowner's meticulously sewn geometric canvases through raw textile edges, subtle washes of pigment, and irregular, monochromatic shapes that have been cut, rearranged and collaged.

Sarah Crowner (b. 1974, United States) is an artist who lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. She received her BA from the University of California, Santa Cruz and a MFA from Hunter College in New York. Crowner is known for colorful and bold compositions of patterned tile structures and paintings made of sewn linen and canvas. Referencing 20th century abstraction, as well as patterns found in nature and architecture, Crowner's works often register as hard-edged geometric paintings from afar, but are actually more object-driven in nature.
