Matt Mullican (b. 1951, United States) is a multimedia artist who incorporates hypnosis in his work. By entering a trance, Mullican is able to separate his ego from his creative process, becoming an ageless, genderless figure he refers to as "that person." Both the impulsive and the systematic and the visceral and the intellectual are juxtaposed throughout his work. He received his BFA from California Institute of the Arts (Valencia) and lives and works in New York.
