Flieger, or "Airplanes," was taken from a super-8 film made in 1990 to document cyan's first journey outside East Berlin after the fall of the Berlin Wall, and underscores the theme of travel and individual freedom.

Founded by Daniela Haufe and Detlef Fiedler, Berlin-based graphic design studio cyan (founded 1992) produces print and multimedia work for cultural and public institutions and also specializes in presentation strategy and visual identity. Both designers teach at the Leipzig Academy of Visual Arts (Germany) and belong to the Alliance Graphique Internationale.
