Francesco Simeti is an Italian-born artist based in New York and Sicily who uses mass media images hidden in decorative patterns to point to a darker subtext. Based on Italo Calvino's 1972 novel Invisible Cities, Simeti's Dusk is a dense cityscape depicting the fantasies and grotesqueries of a modern metropolis layered with overgrown foliage.

Italian-born artist Francesco Simeti (b. 1968, Italy) embeds hidden images within decorative pattern to point to a darker subtext. Concerned with the dissemination of violent imagery and information through the media, which at times reduces horrific events to trivial episodes, Simeti comments on mass desensitization and its potential repercussions. He received his degree in sculpture from the Academy of Fine Arts (Bologna) and lives and works in New York.
