Sonnhild Kestler's colorful tableau Arche Noah is composed of dozens of individual silk-screened shapes, arranged to form motifs that range from the playfully abstract to the discernibly representational. By using transparent inks, Kestler is able to layer simple geometries to create evocative scenes, populated with characters that feel at once distinctly personal and universally totemic.

Sonnhild Kestler (b. 1963, Germany) is a textile designer and hand-screen printer who graduated from Zürich University of the Arts. Her work emphasizes dynamic pattern compositions, vibrant color, and ornate graphics. Along with textiles for interiors, Kestler creates home and fashion accessories for her Zürich-based label, S.K. Hand-Druck.
